Former Terp Geroy Simon Wins his Third Grey Cup Championship

Congratulations to former Terp wide-out Geroy Simon on winning his third Grey Cup Championship this past November. The Grey Cup is awarded annually to the champion of the Canadian Football League. Simon, who plays for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders, shined in the Grey Cup victory by scoring two of his team’s touchdowns. Simon’s other two Grey Cups were won as a member of the BC Lions.

Simon also holds some of the CFL’s most coveted receiving records. As of this year, he is first all-time in pass receptions with 1,029 and is the all-time career leader in CFL receiving yards with 16,352 yards. He also won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player Award in 2006 and is a six-time CFL All Star.

Geroy Simon’s domination on the field is nothing new though. As a member of the Maryland Terrapins (1994-1998), he finished his senior year second on the list of all time receiving yards and receptions. During his sophomore season he even set a new ACC record with 77 catches for 891 yards and 5 touchdowns.
